Alumni Honored During the William Jefferson Jackson Honors Banquet
Several Saint Augustine’s University alumni and a former administrator were honored during the William Jefferson Jackson Honors Banquet hosted by the Washington DC Metropolitan Alumni Chapter. The honorees included Mrs. Hazel Knight Lewis (Class of 1957); Dr. Elvin R. Jones (Class of 1967); Mr. William Sterling Goodwin (1971); Mr. William Watson Jr. (1979); Dr. Mabel Jones Matthews (former administrator and professor); and Darnell Lambey, who was just graduated in 2012.
“Darnell was recognized as a young alumnus for his commitment and active effort in support of his alma mater and the Washington DC Metropolitan Alumni Chapter Saint Augustine’s University,” said Debra Samuels, current president of the chapter. “Darnell has been an active member of the chapter since joining in 2012, one month after graduating from SAU.”
The honors banquet was established to recognize area alumni and former faculty and staff for their contributions to Saint Augustine’s University, their local chapter, the community and for their personal and professional achievements. The banquet was renamed (posthumously) in tribute to alumnus William Jefferson Jackson.
