Board member the Honorable Tom Bradshaw and Drs. Allen and Price attend luncheon in support of women’s health disparities
The Honorable Tom Bradshaw, who is a current member of Saint Augustine’s University Board of Trustees and a former Raleigh mayor, Dr. B. Connie Allen, provost, and Dr. Sarah Price, director of the Transformative Education Program, attended the Alliance Medical Ministry’s Leadership luncheon titled “In Her Shoes” at the Raleigh Convention Center on May 1. The luncheon provided an understanding of women’s health disparities and supported all the work that the Alliance Medical Ministry is doing for uninsured women in the community. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Wendy Brewster, director of the UNC Center for Women’s Health Research.
The Alliance Medical Ministry provides a medical home for nearly 7,000 uninsured adults in the Southeast Raleigh community. Sixty-eight percent of those patients are women, supporting a household of three on approximately $19,000 a year.
