Employee Giving Campaign in Full Swing
On the 2nd floor of the MLK Conference Room, President Dianne Boardley Suber kicked off the annual Employee Giving Campaign. President Suber charged faculty and staff to make sure they do their part to help support Saint Augustine’s University students and the university.
“I thank you for your commitment toward this initiative,” Suber said. “Let’s make sure we do our part and agree to be that voice. Let’s Go Falcons.”
President Suber gave the first donation for this year’s campaign by giving $1,000. Before the end of the program, other individuals made their donation bringing the total amount received to $3,100. Faculty and staff had an opportunity to hear first hand on how their support helps shape the future for students.
DeVonte Jenkins, a junior majoring in English from Rocky Mount, N.C., gave remarks on why he is able to be a student on Saint Augustine’s University.
“Through the help of Dr. Suber and the assignment of a friend, I was afforded the opportunity to transfer to Saint Augustine’s University,” Jenkins said. “If it was not for the support of influential people like Dr. Suber, Dr. Poole and Mr. Brodie, I am not sure where I would be today. I charge each and every one of Saint Augustine’s University faculty [and staff] to not only give for the sake of the university’s rich tradition but also to give students like me the second chance at a flourishing academic career.”
This year’s goal is $55,000.
