Kelly named CIAA-SWAA President
Dr. Kristene Kelly, associate athletic director/senior woman administrator at Saint Augustine’s University, was recently elected as president of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association-Senior Woman Administrators Association (CIAA-SWAA). The 12-member association is comprised of senior woman administrators representing the 12-conference member institutions. Kelly will serve a two-year term as president of the CIAA-SWAA.
“It is a great honor and responsibility to be chosen as president of the CIAA-SWAA,” Kelly said. “I look forward to representing Saint Augustine’s University and serving in this new leadership role.”
The purpose of the CIAA-SWAA is to (1) enhance the level of institutional support provided to the SWAs in support of their efforts to ensure gender equity on their respective campuses and across the conference, (2) to provide educational opportunities to student-athletes (female and male), coaches, staff and administrators, and (3) to offer a collective voice for SWAs on Division II intercollegiate athletics issues of significance to the CIAA and individual campuses.
Kelly has been at Saint Augustine’s University for five years and has served as SWA since 2010. She is an active committee member within the CIAA and the NCAA. Kelly’s current and previous involvement includes, but is not limited to, NCAA Woman of the Year Committee member, former member of the NCAA Division II Track & Field Committee, member of the CIAA’s Management Council, emcee for multiple conference-wide championships and banquets, and committee member on several CIAA championship committees.
